Put On Christ

Romans 13:14

“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

How can we “put on Christ? “

Another translation says ” clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh. “

We put clothes on to cover our bodies. How can we put Christ on?

Colossians 3:12

Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones, by putting on behavior marked by tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, and patience.  Be gentle and forbearing with one another, readily pardoning each other, even as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also forgive.

So we see the answer in scripture….we put on Christ by our behavior. 

So…….what do you think? Is this going to be easy?

No it isn’t! Our flesh, our humaness, wants to do what it feels like. Remember, we are a three part human being….. body, soul, and spirit. The soul is our mind, will, emotions, and imaginations. This is where our behavior either obeys God or disobeys.The body is our earth suit, our flesh and bones. This is the part that tells us; Im hungry or I’m tired. Our spirit is where the Spirit of God comes to dwell within us. He will direct our path for what is best for us, if we will listen to Him.

God tells us we are to put on Christ. He isn’t asking us to, He tells us to do this.

So now you have a decision to make!

I pray you will believe and trust the Lord’s instructions. It may be difficult at first but it gets easier. When love is great, we want to obey. Bless you in your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
